Cherry Hill, NJ July 19, 2004 -- The GlobalGreyhounds.com Summer Auction Series is on track and racing to win not only for greyhound owners, but for greyhound adoption efforts throughout America.
The first phase, an auction designed as a fundraising effort, collected over $10,000 in donations for greyhound adoption efforts.
The 2004 Summer Auction Series, which is comprised of the charity auction followed by the full-service livestock auction, is a sponsored event by the owners of All-American, Dodgem By Design, and CraigieWhistler.com.
GlobalGreyhounds.com is the international online marketplace for the greyhound racing industry. The founders intend to provide owners an outlet to sell several quality greyhound pups, broods, racers and stud services to other greyhound owners, trainers, breeders and enthusiasts worldwide.
GlobalGreyhounds LTD American co-founder, Wendy Hamilton, said, "Our members come through year after year for the charity event. Last winters auction raised over $7,000 for greyhound adoption groups. This summer's $10,000 sale was a nice increase from that. These auctions really show our member's support for the hard work of these adoption groups."
The donations to groups ranged in price from some groups receiving $60.00 each to some receiving the hefty sum of $2343.45.
Teddy Palmer of Halfway Home Greyhound Adoption of Oklahoma was very impressed with the $517 raised for her group. "What an impact this charity auction has made. Not only for the money raised for adoption but the community spirit has been outstanding!"
The newly-formed Greyhound Angels Adoption, Inc. of Cherry Hill, New Jersey was a recent addition to the list of donor recipients and received $833. Lisa Newbold, the founding member was pleased with the results. "I would like to thank all the owners and bidders for their generosity. We are overwhelmed with the support that we have been receiving."
The Summer 2004 Livestock Auction is the latter part of the series, and is a previous winner with over $48,000 sales of greyhound broods, pups and racers during the Winter Auction in January.
Auction access is free to the internet public through the GlobalGreyhounds.com website and the registration process straightforward. Once the user's account is verified, the lots may be bid upon. The lots are listed in a user-friendly format similar to other major online auction websites.
The GlobalGreyhounds LTD Irish co-founder, James Corbett, said, "The demand for online auctions has increased ever since our first online auctions featuring Irish greyhound stock. I think that bidders will be very pleased with the variety and size of the Summer 2004 Livestock Auction, as our new software has created a very interactive experience for the sellers and bidders alike. Our members realize that GlobalGreyhounds.com is the premier portal for online greyhound sales. With over 5,500 members, our fan base keeps growing as those who come online don't want to miss out on the latest buzz within the racing industry."
